Esplanadi, colloquially known as Espa, is an esplanade and urban park in downtown Helsinki, Finland. Espan kesäillat (Esplanade Summer Nights) is a series of events taking place in the summer of 2025. Organized in collaboration with the city of Helsinki and top local restaurants, the events combine the elegant atmosphere of Helsinki’s light-filled summer nights with live music, art, and culinary delights.
Kokoro & Moi was responsible for the visual identity of the events, along with the graphic design of the printed communication materials and applications.

Originally opened in 1818 and designed by architect Carl Ludwig Engel, Esplanade Park set out to evoke a continental atmosphere with palms and other plants exotic to the northern climate.
The visual identity draws inspiration from this history. For the logo we used the elegant script typeface Volina by Dalton Maag, and paired it with Ace by Lift Type, a pleasantly wide sans serif font. We designed illustrations inspired by the atmosphere of the park’s early days, stylistically harmonizing with the delicate shapes of Volina. The color palette of deep blue and vibrant orange reflects the magical hues of Helsinki’s summer night horizon, tying the identity to its timeless setting.
