Lönnrotin Terassi is a new summer terrace that opened in the heart of Helsinki in 2025. Organised in collaboration with the city of Helsinki and two acclaimed local restaurants, Muru and Boon Nam, the terrace offered culinary delights, refreshing summer drinks, and a weekly program of live music and events.
Kokoro & Moi was responsible for the visual identity of the new terrace as well as the graphic design of the required materials.

The terrace was nestled around the statue of Elias Lönnrot (1802–1884), the celebrated collector of Finnish folklore and oral tradition.

Lönnrotin Terassi was nestled around the statue of Elias Lönnrot (1802–1884), the celebrated collector of Finnish folklore and oral tradition. The sculpture portrays Lönnrot on one of his journeys, notebook in hand, recording the poems and stories he heard from the rural people of Finland — words that would eventually shape the Finnish national epic, the Kalevala.
The visual identity draws from this heritage, letting original verses gathered by Lönnrot flow across the surfaces of the design. The identity is minimalist, playing only with two fonts and two colors. Inspired by Gothic and calligraphic letterforms of Lönnrot’s time, we used Impura by Fuerte Type, and Agentur by Good Type Foundry as typography for the project. The color palette features two soft summery shades, pink and lavender. The spatial concept of the terrace was designed by architect Henna Helander.
